Don't be too rough, rough, rough on your dog Don't be too rough, rough, rough on your dog Don't be too ruff, ruff, ruff, ruff, ruff Don't ride your puppy, He is not a pony Don't saddle or straddle him He's lookin' kinda boney And don't put your Barbie clothes On Chuckie the Chihuahua Don't make him dance, not even the lambada And Tommy the Turtle doesn't need a paint job It cuts off the airflow And that'll make his head throb You wouldn't want someone To slap a coat of paint on you Pets have feelings too Just like me and you To keep us from turning blue Give fresh water, fresh food And a pat on the head And a place in the bed Next to you Goldie the Goldfish swimmin' round in water Sometimes she's nappin' That's how I bought her If she should belly up, it could really smelly up Don't try to boil it or flush it down the toilet Goldie deserves a proper funeral 'Cause pets have feelings too From terrier to cockatoo To keep 'em from eating their poo Give your cat or your mutt A nice pat on the butt And a place to curl up Next to you Your cat says please don't hurt me-ow! Your cat says please don't hurt me-ow! Your cat says please don't hurt me, ow! ow! ow! Don't pull, the whiskers on little mister friskers He fell on his vertabray And slipped his little disc-ers And Iggy the Iguana doesn't really wanna Go into the oven, no, it is not a sauna Lizards like heat, but not too much And we all need a home A safe place to bury the bone Some wide open spaces to roam The bobcat needs 20,000 acres We all seek the cheese in the maze Go through a molting phase And if we get rabbies we foam
